Being a remote worker, or running a remote team has gained more traction in these last few years. A culture shift has happened, removing the stigma that “working from home” is somehow less than. Working remotely is one of the preferred ways to get things done, for a lot of reasons. It’s been shown to result in more productivity, time and money is saved in commuting and it typically leads to a more flexible and happy work life for everyone involved.

Sometimes though, not having a workmate or someone physically near you can stall out motivation and cause productivity to fall. If you find that your motivation is lacking lately, try one of these strategies to get you back on track

Video Chat with a Work Colleague

When we can’t find our motivation - sometimes that just means we’re craving some human connection. Get on a video chat with a work colleague or someone in the daily remote work grind like you and chat about what you’re working on

Take a walk

Movement tends to get stuck energy moving again. Taking a walk around the block or on a nearby trail, beach, track, etc., gets your head out of the project or task you’re working on, allowing you the free head space to problem-solve. I have a treadmill desk, and I find that even walking on that when I’m stuck helps a lot
